How can I find the Institute of Mineralogy?

Address

      Institut für Mineralogie

      Callinstr. 3

      (Building Nr. 2501)

      D-30167 Hannover

By train

You can reach the Institute by Üstra trams (U-Bahn) from Kröpcke station.  From Hannover main station (Hauptbahnhof) take the exit Ernst-August-Platz and follow the shopping passage until you reach Kröpcke station.

At the Kröpcke station you should get the U-Bahn line 4 (direction Garbsen) or line 5 (direction Stöcken). Both lines start from the same platform. You have to buy tickets (1 zone) beforehand in using automatic machine (for example, at the railway station). The railway’s driver doesn’t sell any tickets. You should leave the train at the station "Schneiderberg / Wilhem-Busch-Museum".

Then you should walk along the street "Schneiderberg" until it is crossed by the street “Callinstrasse”. Then turn right and follow the street until it turns left. The building at the right side holds the Institutes of Chemistry and Mineralogy. The entrance is at the corner Callinstraße/Hahnenstraße; just opposite the bar "Klein Kröpcke"). Passing through the large metal gate at the right, you find the entrance on right side behind the front building. The secretary office (room 148 and 149) is located in the building 2501 at the second floor.

By car

From the east or west

Take the "Autobahn A2" until the exit "Herrenhausen" and follow B6 in the direction Hannover-City center (Hannover/ Stadtmitte). Use the exit "Herrenhausen/ Großer Garten" and turn right. Follow the U-Bahn tram line on right for about 2 km in direction of the city center. After passing "Herrenhäuser Gärten" (right side) and "Shell" petrol station (left side), the next trafic light is at the crossing to "Schneiderberg" where you turn left.

In 200 m turn left to the "Callinstraße" and drive until it turns left. Typically there is no parking area available at the court of the university building and you need to find a place at the street.

From the north

Coming via "Autobahn A7" you change at the exit "Mellendorf" to the Autobahn A352 and than "Autobahn A2" until the exit "Herrenhausen" and follow B6 in the direction Hannover-City center (Hannover/ Stadtmitte). Then you can go as described above.

From the south

Take the "Autobahn A7" until it crosses "Autobahn A2" at "Kreuz Hannover Ost". Take A2 in direction of Dortmund untill the exit "Herrenhausen" and follow B6 in the direction Hannover-City center (Hannover/ Stadtmitte). Then you can go as described above.

By plane

After arriving at airport “Hannover –Langenhangen” you can take the S-Bahn S5 (you need to purchase a ticket for 2 zones at a ticket machine). When reaching Hannover HBF (main railway station) you follow the description on top. An alternative is leaving the S-Bahn at station “Hannover-Nordstadt” and walking along the “Engelbosteler Damm” in south direction. When crossing the street “Kopernikusstrasse” you go to the left, pass the church “Lutherkirche”, continue along “Hahnenstrasse” till it turns into the “Callinstrasse”. At that corner you pass the large metal gate opposite the bar "Klein Kröpcke". You find the entrance to the Institut für Mineralogie on right side behind the front building. The secretary office (room 148 and 149) is located in the building 2501 at the second floor.
