Karl-Fischer Titration

Method:

 

Programmer-controlled heating of samples in a platinum sample holder using a hf generator; measurement of released water with a titrator CA100 (Mitsubishi®). Sample mass of 5 –   50 mg, detection limit of 5 µg H2O.

Applications:

 

Determination of water contents of solid materials such as minerals, glasses and rocks after stepwise heating to 1300°C.
